Darcy stood, in the process knocking Caroline to the floor. Not even taking a moment to see if she was injured, Darcy walked to the door of the study, opening it. Seeing a footman outside the door, he requested the man to locate Bingley at once.

Realizing that her last chance was upon her, Caroline took the carefully placed tears in her gown and ripped the side of her dress. "Mr Darcy, how can you behave so towards me?" She said while conjuring up false tears. When she heard footsteps coming towards the study, Caroline made to run from the room into the hallway, making it appear as if Darcy had attempted to take advantage of her. As she ran past Darcy, she ran directly into the arms of her brother.
